Founded in 1980, P.A.L.S. has been giving homeless cats a fresh start for over 40 years. We don’t receive public funding — instead, we rely entirely on memberships, fundraisers, memorial gifts, donations, and bequests from caring people like you.
At any given time, 140–175 cats call our shelter home. Instead of cages, they enjoy spacious rooms where they can roam, play, and interact. Each cat receives individualized medical care, nutritious meals, and plenty of love from our dedicated staff.

P.A.L.S. feline veterinary service is the only low-cost, non-profit feline veterinary clinic in Maine. We offer full-service feline (cat only) veterinary care. That means more than just spay and neuter! We operate on a drop-off basis. An appointment is required.
Hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our shelter is committed to saving every animal in our care who can be saved. We do not end the life of healthy or treatable pets even at an owner’s request. We only euthanize a pet if:
• A veterinarian has assessed that there is no chance of recovering an acceptable quality of life, or
• It would be clearly inhumane or unsafe not to do so immediately
